Your child's amazing teachers work with your photographer and go through great lengths to get a fantastic portrait of your child. While we encourage happy smiles, rest assured that we will never force it upon them. We want them to feel comfortable and our philosophy is to embrace the child's natural being. The beauty of these photographs is that they are not the cookie cutter school photos but instead capture the essence of your child exactly as they are. Please take note of the example photographs on this page and see the possible expressions you may get from your child to see if this is the right fit for your family. Also, while the plan is always to shoot outdoors, there is a small chance of an indoor shoot depending on weather.

Karen Wituszynski is a candid/lifestyle photographer serving the Seacoast NH/ME and the surrounding area. She also leads an active, honest, and empowering community of over 2,700 women across New England in her free online group New England Women.
Previously a nanny and educator, and now a mom herself, Karen values each child's unique personalities and photographs them in a way that lets those personalities shine through. With minimal posing and prompting, Karen creates portraits of kids and families exactly as they are.

1. What is your approach? Do you make the kids smile?
We encourage all kids to smile, however we will never force it! The last thing we want is stress and pressure to perform in front of the camera. Our relaxed approach makes sure the child is comfortable and free to be themselves since we know that having a big camera in front of them can be a little intimidating for a little one. As you can see from the example photos, kids react differently so facial expressions may vary because every child is different and amazing in their own way!

2. Do I see my photos in advance before purchasing?
No. Similar to traditional school photos, we take a few quick photos of each student and choose the best one. We have done this for hundreds of students and it has worked great!

3. Do I pay in advance?
Yes. In order to participate, you must place an online order up to TWO DAYS BEFORE Picture Day to have your child's photo taken. This ensures we have everything we need to take your child's photo.

4. When will I see my child's photos?
Orders will be distributed by your child's classroom teacher about 6 weeks after Picture Day. You will get them at pickup once they are ready!

5. Can I order more photos after Picture Day?
Pre-ordering what you need before the deadline ensures you have the best pricing, a full menu of options, and no shipping fees. If you realize you need more photos after the deadline, there is a limited a la carte print menu available and shipping is an additional fee.

6. Do you offer retouching?
Wipes are available to take care of drippy noses and dirt on faces before we take your child's photo. Additional requests for retouching such as scars, scratches, bumps, bruises, sores, chapped lips, food stains, marker/tattoos, hair, anything on clothing, etc. are an additional charge starting at $10.

7. What if my child doesn't normally attend on Picture Day?
You may still participate! Register your child before 4/19 and come in on Picture Day at around 9 AM to get their photo taken.

8. Do you do sibling/family photos?
Just individual portraits on Picture Day this year!

9. What is the background going to be?
The look of the background may vary depending on the location and environment of your school. We typically like to find a spot outdoors that's familiar to the kids unless the weather requires us to move indoors.

10. Are there retakes? What if my child is sick?
There are no retakes unless a child is sick/absent, in which case we will reach out for a make-up date. Rest assured that your child's photo will be consistent with the portfolio of images shown on this page, making sure they are comfortable and are free to be themselves. If a photo is unusable (eyes closed, tech error, inconsolable child) and the mistake is not caught before it's printed, I will do everything I can to fix it and refund prints if needed.
Due to the nature of the product, downloaded digital files are nonrefundable.
